The CD is
based on the book “Pakistan:
Perspectives on State and Society”. The
idea of a CD was to go well beyond a
textual presentation. Accordingly, the
CD has around 50 audio/video clips and
over 150 photographs that have been
linked with the text in an interactive
setting.
This
manual and CD spans over Pakistan and
its region’s history from the ancient
times of the Stone Age and the Indus
Valley Civilization (2500 BC) to AQ
Khan’s full pardon in 2004. It presents
a concise and inclusive overview of
Pakistan in a chronological format,
mapping pivotal events in a timeline. In
particular, it highlights the diverse
cultural and historical heritage of
Pakistan through the vast number of
various foreign invasions into the
subcontinent and incorporates the main
stages of Pakistan’s history as
pre-partition (constituting the Delhi
Sultanate, Mughal rule and British Raj)
and post-partition (stretching from the
Quaid as the first governor-general to
Musharraf). The CD contains rich
introductions accompanied by beautiful
maps, pictures, video clips and
important documents, and is complemented
by a manual in Urdu and another SAHE
publication, Pakistan: Perspectives on
State and Society.
