Hamid is a Principal Research Analyst at American Institutes for Research (AIR) and is currently serving as the project manager for ESRA, Pakistan. Before joining AIR, he was the project director of a UNDP program to establish a training institution for teachers of primary grades in Lahore. He has served as a consultant for numerous teacher professional development programs including SAHE’s Arifwala Community-based Primary Schools Project, and headed the Rural Primary Teachers Quality Improvement Project for UNESCO.

He is the author of a number of books and articles and his studies of teacher education in Pakistan are widely quoted.

He received his Ph.D. in Political Science from Duke University and was visiting postdoctoral scholar at Teachers College, Columbia University.
