Samina has been a teacher, educationist and human rights activist for over four decades. She taught at the Quaid-e-Azam University and University of the Punjab, before establishing Lahore Grammar School in 1979 with a group of like-minded women, where she still works. She is also a founding member of Women’s Action Forum (WAF) Lahore and has sat on the board of numerous education and women’s rights organizations, including the Aurat Foundation, Dastak and Simorgh
Dr. Kizilbash is a Principal Research Analyst at American Institutes for Research (AIR) and is currently serving as the project manager for ESRA, Pakistan. Before joining AIR, he was the project director of a UNDP program to establish a training institution for teachers of primary grades in Lahore. He has served as a consultant for numerous teacher professional development programs including SAHE’s Arifwala Community-based Primary Schools Project, and headed the Rural Primary Teachers Quality Improvement Project for UNESCO.
Neelam is a founding member and Executive Director of Simorgh Women’s Resource and Publication Centre, Lahore and a member of the Women’s Action Forum. Her research interest lies in exploring how gendered structures and cultural norms in Pakistan shape women’s experiences and narratives. She is currently involved with research on forced marriage and women’s inheritance rights.
Dr. Fareeha is one of SAHE’s founding members and was SAHE’s director for 10 years. She has worked as a consultant for numerous multinational donor agencies and governments. She is a founding member of Women’s Action Forum (WAF) Lahore and is on Board of Directors at LEAD and TVO. She taught at the University of Punjab for 25 years and served there as the Director Designate of the Centre of Excellence for Women’s Studies.
Hasan Askari Rizvi is an independent political and defense analyst. he was Visiting professor of Pakistan Studies at Columbia University’s School of International and Public affairs (SIPA) from January 1996 to 1999, and the Allama Iqbal Professor at Heidelberg University, Germany from 1988 to 1991. Till 2001, he was a professor of Political Science at the Punjab University, Lahore Pakistan. Rizvi obtained his M.A. and Ph.D in political Science and International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania, and an M.Phill in Politics from the University of Leeds, UK. He is currently serving as professor emeritus of political science at the Punjab University, Lahore. He also contributes regularly in country’s various news channels to comment on country’s political and domestic situation.
Ayesha has over 12 years of experience working on education reform in Pakistan. Dr. Ghazala is the Chairperson and Professor of the Department of Philosophy, School of Humanities, at Forman Christian College, Lahore. She has taught at Lahore University of Management Sciences and Punjab University, and lectured at the Mississippi University for Women, Columbus, USA as Fulbright Visiting Specialist.
Abbas Rashid is a founding member and chairman of SAHE. He is the convener for the steering committee of the Campaign for Quality Education (CQE) and is a member of the steering committee for the Pakistan Association for Research in Education (PARE). He was the lead researcher for the Education in Pakistan: What Works & Why research initiative, the precursor to CQE. Abbas has taught at the federal government Civil Services Academy and is a regular columnist for the Daily Times.
