Anjum is the Head of Research and Policy Studies (RAPS) and Associate Professor at the Aga Khan University Institute for Educational Development (AKU-IED). Anjum teaches research methods and mathematics methods courses at graduate and post-graduate levels at AKU-IED. For her contribution to the development of a research culture at AKU-IED and leading innovative research projects, she was awarded the AKU Annual Award, “Excellence in Scholarship of Research” for 2003-04.

Her research interests include school improvement, teacher development, mathematics education, and ethics in research.

Her doctorate from the University of Oxford, UK was a study of students learning mathematics in classrooms in Pakistan and draws on the psychology of learning and on the social and cultural setting of the classroom.
